It’s been 10 long, horrible years since the Affordable Care Act — better known by its demeaning nickname, Obamacare — was passed by Congress and signed by Obama.
It’s been absolutely terrible for millions of Americans.
Impeached President Donald Trump ran in 2016 on a promise to overturn Obamacare and replace it with something…better. A better law. A much better plan, believe me. The tremendous replacement has been just around the corner for the last three and a half years, and now, it’s here.
Impeached President Trump issued an executive order that says Obamacare will be no more, as of approximately July 1, 2021, which is about when President-Elect-to-Be Joe Biden will expand Obamacare to make it better and give health coverage to millions more Americans.
After Trump was inaugurated, he promised again and again that a new healthcare plan was coming. He never said what exactly his new plan would be, though.
His repeated attempts to repeal Obamacare failed again and again and again. And in the meantime, public approval of the Affordable Care Act has grown into positive territory. It’s almost like, bear with me here, Americans LIKE the idea of being able to go to the doctor when they’re sick.
He has vowed yet again to get rid of Obamacare, but keep the provision that allows Americans with preexisting conditions to still get health insurance.
But hey guess what? It’s pretty tough to make the numbers work to cover people who have actually used their health insurance because they’ve been sick without mandating that everyone has health insurance.
This isn’t rocket surgery, folks.
Louder, for those in the back with their fingers shoved in their ears as they sing Zippity Do Dah out their butts: we live in the wealthiest country in the world (well, that might not be true in the COVID era but that’s a story for another day).
The fact that Trump is talking about taking health care away from millions of Americans is criminal.
