We all know that English should be the only language spoken in the United States. It’s only logical for everybody in this country to have a common tongue. It allows every person and service the ability to communicate with ease. No hassles, no problem.
But there’s never been a law mandating that English only be spoken…until now. The State of Iowa has introduced Measure 5150 which makes it unlawful for any language other than English to be spoken in public areas. It also requires that a proficiency in the English language be attained within a timeframe yet to be determined.
A local chapter of a white nationalist group lobbied government to introduce this law after it became frustrated at hearing people speak in Spanish and other languages and constantly wondering if they were being talked about on the sly. It is for this reason that it is being casually referred to as “The Snowflake Law.”
Harold Butts spearheaded the movement to bring in the change:
“I’ve been in grocery stores and restaurants and had people speaking in some other language around me. Who knows what they’re saying about me? Are they making fun of me? Are they laughing at me behind my back but in front of my face? Nobody has a right to talk about others without permission. That’s how feelings get hurt.
So I called my congressman and he put a plan into action. English only. This is America.
We know that a lot of them snowflakes are going to complain about this so that’s why we’re calling it ‘The Snowflake Law.’ Those people cry about everything!”
Measure 5150 is expected to pass in the next month and is further expected to be challenged and reversed within weeks after that. This law should’ve been put in place nationwide long ago.
