Governors Who Limit Civil Liberties Can Be Kicked Out of Office

As blue-state governors throughout the country continue their tyrannical lockdowns to try to keep their residents safe, a little-known provision in a law from 1866 has come to light that will allow these despots to be kicked out of office.

The ruling in the case, called Ex Party Gilligan US 69 Sec2, determined that, “ANYONE who declares the suspension of constitutionally guaranteed rights (to freely travel, peacefully assemble, earn a living, freely worship, etc.) and/or attempts to enforce such suspension within 50 independent, sovereign, continental United States of America is making war against our constitution(s) and, therefore, we the people.” Sounds pretty ominous, doesn’t it? And it must be true, because it was shared in a meme on Facebook.

Putting aside the ridiculous notion that there were 50 states in 1866 and the horrible grammar, let’s continue with our Facebook meme history lesson. The meme in question continues, “They violate their constitutional oath and, thus, immediately forfeit their office and authority and their proclamations may be disregarded with impunity and that means ANYONE; even the governor and President.”

Now that this provision has been brought to light by some guy sitting in his mom’s basement making memes, it appears that it’s time for the 42 governors who have issued stay-at-home orders to, well, quit. And if they don’t, it also appears that patriotic citizens can simply ignore the lawful orders and go out in public without the heavy hand of the law violating their rights to infect everyone within sneezing distance with a deadly virus that can’t tell red voters from blue voters.

Constitutional scholar Sandy Batt said, “This ruling means that 42 governors should quit immediately, and if they don’t, Trump can fire them. That’s never happened in the history of the country, but we’re living in uncertain times.”
