Democrat Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib submitted formal requests today to the Office of Budget Administration for copies of the 2020 Federal budget printed in Arabic numerals. They say having their numbers printed in Arabic numerals is the custom in their home countries and how it should be done in the United States.
The two Democrats are demanding to have their copies by the end of the month. They have been told several times that Arabic numerals are the same numbers that everyone else uses, but they are not having it. The two are threatening to sue the government if necessary to get their copies.
Senator Joe Barron slammed the news:
“This is America and we use American numerals here. We will not bend over backward for these foreign people coming here wanting to change their ways. They need to assimilate to our ways, not the other way around.
Look, we don’t want to use some obscure number system like that here. It would be very tedious to change the endless pages of the budget from our numerals to Arabic ones. It’s just wasteful. These two Democrats are just displaying their ignorance.”
Republicans and Donald Trump have vowed to ban Arabic numerals this year, with Donald Trump saying:
“We don’t need that here, we have our own numbers. Next, they will be demanding Sharia law. Where does it end?”
We definitely have to agree with the president. We give these foreigners an inch and they take a mile. And then they complain we gave them a mile and say kilometers are better. It’s out of hand.
