Oliver Anthony has been on a roll lately. The biggest song in the land, big country artists are saying how amazing he is, and big media companies are paying attention. Two of them, however are SOL when it comes to getting him for interviews or anything else.
Earlier, CMT was looking to feature him on their channel. Now, Fox News came calling to interview him and even have him perform his hit song on their channel, knowing that “Rich Men North Of Richmond” would resonate with their audience and even get back some of the viewers they’d lost.
But Olivier Anthony flat out told them NO. There was no way he was going on Fox. Mr Anthony explained that while he had been a Fox News fan in the past, Fox fired the one man he trusted the most. Tucker Carlson. No Tucker, no Oliver.
Oliver Anthony had been a Tucker Carlson fan for a very long time. He believed in what Tucker had to say and was a loyal Fox News watcher, especially when Tucker Carlson was on. But since Fox had unceremoniously fired Tucker, there was no reason for him to go on Fox.
Oliver Anthony, like Tucker Carlson, knows how to speak to simple minded people. Simple minded people who are easily led. Simple music, simple messages. Try that in a fudge round. And both pretend to be salt of the earth regular people while they’ve both been crafted for stupid people by billionaires.
But don’t you worry. Oliver Anthony will show up on Twitter or whatever it’s called now to be led to tell people what they want to hear at the price he wants to be paid. And Tucker, whose influence has waned severely since being fired will lead that dog and pony show.
It’ll be a crash course in right wing scumbaggery of pretending that poor people are the enemy and pretending that wage equality doesn’t exist even though it’s right there in the song. Anything to push a bullshit narrative to the rubes. God bless America.
