CNN has been known to do some disgraceful things, but this one takes the cake. During the 15 seconds the network devoted to “memorializing” Diamond, they posted a picture of her counterpart, Silk. They never corrected the mistake nor have they issued an apology to Diamond’s family and fans.
Diamond, born Lynette Hardaway in 1967, died of an unknown cause at 51, sparking an outpouring of grief and a flurry of donations to her family. They’re asking for more. CNN’s disrespect has only caused the family more heartache.
A spokesman for the pair, Joe Barron, says CNN called and asked for a picture of the two and he “sent the wrong one by mistake,” The network posted it without double-checking. The mistake went largely unnoticed, as most MAGA Americans love the duo but couldn’t pick them out of a lineup.
“We noticed,” said Diamond’s cousin Harold, “we’ve been waiting for this day for a while. It’s been over 7 years of being related to that trash. We saw the tribute and laughed our asses off. Now we get to sue and everything. I’m not convinced CNN isn’t in on the joke.”
We ran our own test, and sure enough, the common tater has no idea which is which, but they’re willing to offer their thoughts and prayers to a black woman, so at least that’s progress. God bless America.
