Casey Anthony is back and she’s running for congress…as a Democrat!
Casey Anthony announced today that she will be running for congress hoping to unseat Brian Mast (R-16th district). In 2008, Anthony was found “not guilty” by a jury for murdering her own child! Although everyone knows she did it, she was acquitted anyway because she had a high profile lawyer and the prosecutor was a moron.
She already racked up some high profile endorsements. Both Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Elizabeth Warren endorsed her. In an interview with The Washington Post, Ocasio-Cortez stated that everyone deserves a second chance in life and is proud to support Anthony:
“She was a good mother who had a tragic thing happen to her. I proudly stand with Anthony and am with her in her fight for our children.”
In a speech with supporters, Anthony stated, “I am proud to be standing her today fighting in the memory of my child. Thank you for putting your trust in me.”
Although she is a longshot candidate, she is polling quite well in the Democratic primary. Internal polling shows that she has the support of 4% of Democrats. With the high profile endorsements, we shouldn’t be surprised to see her surge even higher.
